Navteq Traffic surpasses two million subscribers in North America. Navteq Traffic almost quadrupled the subscribers from one year ago. Navteq Traffic was one of the first companies to deliver real time traffic to navigation maps in 2004.
Below is from the NAVTEQ press release:
NAVTEQ Traffic also enables a wide range of the leading traffic-enabled navigation solutions in North America, including:

NAVTEQ Traffic was the first in North America to commercially deliver real-time personalized traffic linked to the map in a navigation system in 2004, and continues its leadership by delivering accurate, robust traffic information to millions of consumers in North America through a wide variety of distribution channels, including:
* NAVTEQ Traffic Satellite(TM) via satellite radio

* NAVTEQ Traffic ML(TM), which powers websites, two-way connected GPS devices and mobile navigation and mapping applications through standard Internet XML formats

"From the beginning, NAVTEQ has been committed to delivering the comprehensive and accurate traffic information consumers are demanding to make their daily lives easier," said Howard Hayes, vice president for NAVTEQ Traffic. "This milestone represents an exciting level of growth by companies which recognize the value of making real-time traffic more broadly available."
This can be seen as good news since two major distribution method for Navteq Traffic is via
Sirius Travel Link and
XM NavTraffic. Both utilizes traffic information from satellite radio.
