Rad Sat Daily listened in on the Sirius XM Radio Q4 conference call and here are some of the highlights:
- Sirius XM Radio is working on a application to stream content to the Iphone and plans to launch the application at some point in second quarter
- Sirius XM Radio is hopeful to work with Major League Baseball about getting the baseball games available on "Best of" for Sirius subscribers
- Wall street kills companies, not going to give a subscriber number on how many "best of" subscribers there are. The numbers are good
- Direct TV subscribers may possibly get a nice package in the future for Sirius XM Radio content
- There was so much being written about Sirius XM Radio going bankrupt that they believe it dampened the retail channel.
- Circuit City going bankrupt also hurt the satellite radio retail channel
- Sirius XM Radio will no longer give guidance for subscriber’s counts for 2009 and beyond
- Through March If sign up for longer term plan then keep existing rates on family plan. It’s nice because consumers pay up front giving Sirius XM Radio some extra working capital
- Mel Karmazin wishes the coupon on the Liberty deal was lower but that is the current market conditions. GE and Goldman paid a 10% coupon, so Sirius XM radio paid 15% coupon. Mel also wishes the stock price was higher. He is speaking as a large shareholder.
